The difference between Basic & Advanced translation

Translate My Store has two options when translating to a different language: Advanced or Basic.

When you add a new language to your store, the Basic option is automatically selected.  If you'd like to use the Advanced option instead, click on the More actions button next to the language and then select Change to Advanced Translation.

The Basic option allows you to dynamically translate between languages.  With this option, your store will be translated automatically without any action on your part.  This is a fast and simple way to translate your store but you will not be able to edit your translations.

The Advanced option has more features that let you customize your translations such as the ability to manually edit translations and creating a glossary.  You also have the option of translating your store using Manual translation, AI translation, Autopilot translation, CSV Import translation & the Visual Editor tool.

Both options are user friendly and if you're not sure which one you should use, you can use Basic for some languages and Advanced for others and then decide which one meets your requirements.

Shopify Platform Limit

Shopify has established a maximum of 20 alternative languages to be designated as “Advanced”, allowing for direct editing of translations for those languages.

This warning pop-up will trigger when you are trying to set the 21st alternative language to Advanced.

Our app will still allow you to add more languages according to your plan limit; however, it can only be translated using Basic Translation.

Note: It is recommended to set only the published languages in advanced mode, as this limit applies whether the languages are published or unpublished.
