How To Translate Text in Unpublished or Draft Themes
With the Hextom: Translate & Currency app, you can translate text on your unpublished themes. This feature is helpful if you're planning to switch to another theme and you're testing things first on an unpublished one. This is possible using the following advanced translation features:
AI Translation
Navigate to Translation.
Under Translate text, navigate to AI translation
Use Find by category filters and then select your target language. Click Load text to translate.
Look for "Theme" on the category list, and click on the AI dropdown. Choose Configure AI Translation.
Select the unpublished Theme you want to translate.
You can choose if you want the AI task to translate all text or just outdated/untranslated text, and then click Load Text to Translate.
You can also preview the AI Translation.
Tip
If the theme you want to translate isn't on the list, click Sync Themes then it should be added to the list of themes.
Scroll down to the bottom and click Start AI Translation, which will start a translation task and redirect you to your Task History.
Manual Translation
Navigate to Translation.
Under Translate text, click on Manual translation
Under Find by category filters, select your target language and click Load to translate.
Look for "Theme" in the category list and click on Manual.
Select the Unpublished Theme you want to translate and click Load Text to Translate. Once it loads, you can start manually translating your text.
Tip
If the theme you want to translate isn't on the list, click "Sync Themes" then it should be added to the list of themes.
Once translations have been applied, you should be able to see them while previewing the unpublished themes in the applied language.
If you're looking to migrate existing translations from one theme to another, please refer to the article: "Why does the theme translation disappear after publishing a new theme?"
