How can I make sure the language and currency redirect features are working?
Our app Hextom: Translate and Currency includes the ability to redirect your customers to the correct region/currency based on Geolocation and also the correct language based on their web browser language settings on any paid plan.
Our app also remembers the settings used by your customers and gives them these settings again. This means that a customer who uses the selector to change to the region/currency or language that they prefer, only needs to do so one time. We will no longer redirect them based on geolocation. This can make this feature difficult to test. For example, if you use a VPN to change your geolocation, our app will remember your previous region/currency setting, and send you to that one instead.
The best way to test the region/currency or language redirect is by deleting your browsing data, or by using a freshly installed web browser. Using a private browsing window is not enough. This will ensure that our app has no memory of any previous browsing settings, and will instead rely on the redirect feature.
So to test this feature, the best thing to do is:
Clear all browsing data out of an existing web browser, or if you don't want to lose your browsing data, download a new web browser
- Change the web browser's language settings to test the language redirection, and/or use a VPN to change your geolocation to test the region/currency redirection. If you don't have a VPN, Proton and Windscribe are free options.
- Visit your store "for the first time" with this web browser, and observe the results.
