Why does the theme translation disappear after publishing a new theme? •
With Shopify's native translation feature, the theme's translation is linked to every particular version of the theme. This means that if you publish a new theme, the theme translation will not be migrated to the new theme automatically. But no worries! Our theme migration tool can help you transfer the theme text translations from one theme to another.
Note
This step is unnecessary if you uses Basic Translation for all languages, as the new theme will be automatically translated.

You can follow the steps below to migrate the translation from one theme to another.
- Go to the "Migration" page in the app, either from the button on the left side menu or the button on the dashboard page, as shown in the screenshot below.
- Select the theme you are migrating translations from, and the theme you are transferring them to.
- After selecting both themes, click the "Start Translation Migration" button. This will create a migration task that transfers the translation text for all languages from one theme to the other. You can check the task and its progress on the "View Task" page in the app.
Tip
If the theme you want isn't on the list, click the "Sync Themes" button shown in the screenshot below to update theme lists. Afterward, you should see all the latest themes in the dropdown.
