How to Fix Missing Translation Fields for Meta Titles and Descriptions

There are cases where you may notice that meta titles and descriptions don’t appear as translatable in our app.

This happens when the meta title and description matches the content title and description. The meta description is automatically generated by Shopify based on the content. For auto-generated meta titles and descriptions, Shopify doesn’t create translatable records, so unless they are manually edited, they aren't sent to our app.


The Solution

Follow these quick steps to make the meta title and description translatable:

1. Go to your Shopify admin, then navigate to the content you want to translate the meta title and description. For example, blog posts:

  1. Under Search engine listing preview, click Edit website SEO.


  1. Make a small edit to the meta title and meta description (e.g., add a period, change a word, or update the phrasing), then save the changes.


  1. Return to the Translate & Currency App, go either to the manual or AI translation, select the language, then click load the text.


  1. Find the category from the list and then click scan, in this case this is article.


Once a scan task is created, our app will fetch the latest translatable text from your store. This includes changes made to the meta title and description. Then they will become available for translation within the app, and you can either use the manual translation or AI translation.
