How can I exclude text from AI Translation?
Sometimes there is some text that you don't want our AI translator to translate. For example, you might not want to translate any of your store's URLs, or you might have a metafield from another 3rd party app that needs to remain untranslated. When this happens, you can use our app's Exclude Rules to prevent our AI translator from creating translations of specific text on your store.
The exclude tool works by allowing you to select a type or text, and adds a rule to our AI translation feature to never translate that type of text.

Tip:
If there are specific words you would like to exclude from translation, rather than entire text elements, then the Glossary tool is the best option for you!
How Can I Quickly Exclude one Text element From AI Translation?
If you only need to exclude a specific piece of text like one product title or a single element on your home page, you can do this directly from the manual translation tool:
- Find the text in the manual translation tool using the category filters or keyword search.
- Click the More button next to the text.

Select Exclude from the dropdown.

- A pop-up will appear asking which languages to apply the rule to:
- All languages — excludes the text from all languages in your store.
- Specific languages — lets you select one or more specific languages to exclude.

Press Exclude to confirm.

A new Exclude Rule will be created, and the AI translation feature will no longer translate that text for the selected languages.

How can I Add an Exclude Rule?
If you need to exclude multiple texts, you can access the Exclude Rules tool on the Translation page in our app.

Click the Add your first rule button.

- Choose the Category of text you want to exclude, or select All categories if the text spans multiple categories like URL handles.
- Select the Sub-category (e.g. handles, metafields).
- Set a Filter Option if needed, or leave as No Filter.
- Under Apply to languages, choose All Languages or Specific Languages.
